No More Wifi?!

At 3:43 pm on November 19th, students at La Follette High school were met with a horrifying email from our principal, Sean Storch. In the weekly update. To restrict use of bullying and harassment on social media at LHS, we will shut off guest wifi starting November 19.” As of 9:00 am on the 19th, the guest wifi is up and running for us. In the e-mail sent to students and their families, this shocking statement was made; “To restrict use of bullying and harassment on social media at LHs, we will shut off guest wifi starting November 19”. Many students took social media to denounce this new rule immediately. However, this doesn’t affect the wifi that our chromebooks are using, so don’t worry about that. This rule was shocking to many because there was no warning or second chances. Along with that, most students have mobile data, which may not work as fast as wifi, bat can still be used to use social media to glorify these things. At the time of writing this, which is eight days later, there have been no major fights. The guest wifi will continue to be shut off for the rest of the year, according to emails from the school and Mr. Storch. This can be frustrating, but the amount of fights and videos of fights has gotten a little bit out of hand, especially this year. Be sure not to record any videos of fights, and keep track of your data!
